Chiropractic Stroke...?
Do Chiropractors cause Chiropractic Strokes? In an attempt to discredit chiropractic and discourage people from seeking help from a chiropractor many organizations and affiliations with allopathic medicine continue to bring up misleading information about the link between stroke and chiropractic. The World Chiropractic Alliance (WCA) reports that this is a deliberate and unethical scare tactic which does not stand up against critical evidence. The WCA goes on to say “even if we restrict our investigation to cervical adjustments, which have been the focus of many of the media and medical attacks -- the only reasonable conclusion which can be drawn is that chiropractic adjustments do not post any significant risk of stroke and are remarkably safe.” A stroke occurs when a blood clot or blood vessel breaks cutting off the blood supply to an area of the brain. This lack of blood flow causes brain cells to die. The WCA reports that there are nearly 750,000 first ever or recurrent strokes each year in the U.S. and more than 150,000 deaths are directly related to strokes. The link between chiropractic and stroke is outlandish, since many scientific and medical studies have been done and indicate a cerebrovascular accident (CVA) to occur once in every 1-3 million chiropractic adjustments.

People who make allegations against chiropractic stating chiropractors cause strokes have been falsely informed. Chiropractors are very highly trained and there is great specificity in a chiropractic adjustment. A manipulation is not as specific; this is a forceful passive movement taking of the joint above and beyond the normal active range of motion. Based upon the scientific research readily available today it proves that chiropractic care poses no significant risk for stroke and is far safer than some medical treatments.
