Palmer Chiropractic College
Palmer Chiropractic College was started by chiropractic's "founder" D.D. Palmer. D.D. Palmer performed the first adjustment on a deaf man in 1895 and relieved his deafness restoring proper nerve flow. Chiropractic was born and the technique of spinal manipulation was discovered. Dr. Palmer started the school just two years later in 1897 in Davenport, Iowa. D.D. Palmer's son B.J. Palmer is known as the "developer" of chiropractic. He spent many grueling years developing chiropractic into the health science it has become. B.J. Palmer was the President of the college up until his death in 1961. In 1961 his son David Palmer became the new president of Palmer College and was known as the "educator" of chiropractic.
Palmer's Davenport campus also offers several other degrees in conjunction with the Doctor of Chiropractic degree. They offer a Bachelor of Science in general science, a Master of Science in anatomy and clinical research, and an Associate of Science in chiropractic technology. Within Palmer's elective program they offer many different techniques along with the "Palmer package" which is a set of core techniques within the curriculum.
